AC Ingenieros has obtained the construction license for the new Borrás Cacao S.A. factory in Jeréz de la Frontera, Cádiz.

The local government board, led by Mayor María José García-Pelayo, has approved the license to adapt an industrial building located in the Agro-food Park of Jerez, which will be used for the relocation and expansion of the cocoa and chocolate factory of Borrás Cacao S.A. – currently based in Pinto (Madrid). The factory is expected to be operational by next spring and will employ a staff of 50 workers at full capacity.
The mayor has thanked this well-established company, with extensive experience in the sector, for its trust in Jerez for the installation and expansion of its factory. She noted, “This confirms once again the city’s attractiveness for investors and the opportunities it offers for setting up new companies, expanding businesses, diversifying production lines, and ultimately for creating economic activity and employment.”
These facilities, which are three stories high, are located on Calle de la Cooperación, in the building previously used for ice cream and confectionery production by Bornay Dessert S.L. The property covers an area of 21,358.80 square meters with a built area of 7,532.84 square meters, which, following the intervention, will expand to 7,867 square meters.
As the company’s representative, José María Borrás, explained, “We are a company originally from Ceuta with over a century of history (since 1909), and we are moving to Jerez with the intention of expanding our current facilities and thus increasing our production, which will grow from 20 tons of product per day to 150.”
The factory primarily targets the industrial chocolate market, including coatings for manufacturers of cookies, ice cream, and industrial pastries, as well as its most recognized brands, such as Caoflor, Tres Tazas, and Chocolates Eureka.
The choice of Jerez as the location for the factory is mainly due to “technical and economic reasons,” such as “the ideal location and good transportation connections of the Agro-food Park of Jerez and its proximity to the port of Algeciras, which will facilitate product exports,” noted the company representative.
The plant where activities will take place is composed of four distinct buildings: an office and personnel area with a total constructed area of 1,273.12 square meters; a production and industrial area covering nearly 5,500 square meters; a 700-square-meter industrial services building, which is separate and single-story; and an isolated 100-square-meter waste building.
According to the submitted adaptation plan, 79 designated parking spaces will be provided, including reserved spaces for individuals with reduced mobility.
