On June 11, we organized and sponsored the technical event “Protect Your Food Industry: Insurance, Risks, and Strategies to Optimize Costs,” in collaboration with the Basque Food Cluster, held at the Bilbao Technology Park.
The event brought together the entire chain affected by new insurance requirements—technical managers and executives from agri-food industries, insurance companies, and engineering firms—to address the main challenges associated with comprehensive protection of food industry facilities against fire risks.
During the session, real-life cases were shared by the companies involved, such as bakery firm Okin, and practical solutions were presented on risk management, regulatory compliance in fire safety, and the technical assessment of critical infrastructure. The discussion also covered common difficulties faced by industries in securing and maintaining industrial insurance, with a special focus on the technical criteria insurers consider decisive for coverage viability.
A clear conclusion emerged: legal compliance with fire protection regulations does not guarantee insurability.
AC Ingenieros emphasized the importance of adopting a strategic and interdisciplinary approach to managing existing industrial plants—and in the design of new ones—by integrating safety and predictive maintenance criteria as key elements for medium- and long-term cost reduction. The event created a high-value technical dialogue space and reinforced AC Ingenieros’ commitment to the Basque business community. It also served as the occasion to announce the opening of its new Northern Delegation, marking another step in the company’s expansion across Spain.
